Plot Summary
Two Jesuit missionaries travel to 17th century Japan to discover what happened to one of their own
There are very few films that have the power to cause an entire group of people to sit with rapt attention for almost three hours then file out of the theater in absolute silence. This is one of those films.

This is not a film full of action. It is a slow-moving, thought-provoking, superbly-acted testament to people that are much stronger than most of us could every hope to be. It is a film that never lets up on the intensity, emotion, nor does it ever let you forget the stakes.

Watching this film is no easy task. There are times where you will be bitterly angry, uncontrollably sad, and terrified for the characters. It will poke at emotions in you that you may not have even known existed. And when it is all done, you will feel things that you won't be sure what to do with them except just let them process over time.

If you are the kind of person that only sees three of four films a year this one will probably be a bit much for you. However, if you can handle the power of a SCHINDLER'S LIST style film, then I highly recommend putting SILENCE on your watch list.
