Plot Summary
Three generations of women live different lives in 1970's California
Director
This is one of those films where I feel like I'm the only movie critic that saw a completely different movie than everyone else. Critics everywhere are raving about this movie and the performances in it. Personally, I hated it.

I saw this film in a theater with 14 people. All of us were invited directly by the studio to screen this movie. Within 30 minutes of the opening scene 3 of the 14 people had walked out never to return.

My soul left with them.

I wish I could have walked out, but I had already promised them that I would give them my feedback after it was done. Let's just say that the last 90 minutes of enduring this movie was one of the most painful movie-going experiences of my life.

I heard several of my colleagues describe this movie as "ambitious". That's critic-speak for "it is really terrible, but somehow I know we aren't supposed to think that it is, so I'm going to use big and ambiguous words to talk about it."

This film meanders, it's slow, it has no point, and the characters are just there. Nothing makes them likable or someone you need to hate. They just sit there, being nothing but boring...and there...and you can't get rid of them...for two long hours.

Maybe you will find this film to be existential and important and several other movie-snob terms, if so, good for you. For the rest of us, this is nothing more than a complete waste of time.
