Plot Summary
A group of scientists and military personnel seek to find out the mysteries on an uncharted island
In a long line of Hollywood monster movies, this is another one. If all you need out of a movie like this is a bunch of people shooting at animals that are hundreds of times larger than them, then grab your popcorn and have a blast. If you need a bit more than that in your movie-going experience, you should probably go ahead and skip this one.

You know it isn't a great movie when you have thoughts like, "Wow, I sure am glad that John C. Reilly is in this movie. He's carrying the whole film." Unfortunately, that is a completely true statement. This film is full of incredible A-list actors, but it feels like all of them are mailing it in. There is some seriously terrible acting going on.

You know, going into a movie about monsters, that you are going to have to let certain things go, but this movie takes advantage of that "wiggle room." For example, there is one scene where the crew needs to find out a specific piece of information. The big, bad monster that kills everything without even thinking about it, stops in the middle of hunting then and literally pukes up the evidence needed right in front of the people that need it. Are you kidding me? And that is just one of several eye-rolling moments of convenience.

This film offers little more than a two-hour reason to eat popcorn and watch things explode. It will give you a few laughs and a few jumps, but don't expect this to be a movie you need to see again.

NOTE: If you have younger kids that you are thinking about taking to see KONG, you may want to screen it first. I was surprised that it wasn't given an R rating based on several graphic death scenes. A couple of them were so gruesome that I actually flinched and turned away.

NOTE 2: Stay through all of the credits. It's worth it.
