Long Shot
If you ever told me that Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen would be love interests in a RomCom, I would have said you were crazy. If you followed that up by saying the RomCom would be really good, I would have just laughed at you and walked away. Who knew that all of this time you were right? Congratulations! After seeing this film I'm still not quite sure how it all worked as well as it did, but it did, and it is a fantastic movie. Theron and Rogen have incredible chemistry that...

UglyDolls
What do you get when you put together a huge list of A-list actors and musicians, a unique animation style, and a bunch of factory-reject fuzzy dolls? You get an okay movie with some great songs. Kelly Clarkson leads the way as the rejected doll that refuses to give up hope that she will, one day, be held in the arms of a child that needs her. She, along with her band of misfits, set out to make her dream a reality. The film is targeted to children about 6-8 years old, and...

The Intruder
Very few times in my life have I rooted for the bad guy in a movie, but in this case I was cheering him on with full gusto. About 30 minutes into the film I realized that both of his victims were so colossally stupid that they deserved everything that was going to happen to them. Here are just a couple of the, (slightly spoilery, but it really doesn't matter), stupid things they did: 1. They both are the worst cell phone users ever. 2. They never bother to call the cops. 3. The woman has zero...

Avengers: Endgame
Wow. Where to begin? All of the thoughts and feels.... Let's start with the questions everyone has been asking me: 1. Does this movie answer all of the questions? Well, sort of...there are some things that you'll still be questioning after seeing it. 2. Is it really 3 hours long? Yes, but it doesn't feel like it at all. 3. Are all those people really dead? Why on earth would I tell you the answer to that question? Go see it for yourself! 4....

High Life
Robert Pattinson may be best known for playing the role of Edward in TWILIGHT, but that is tragic. He has made several indie films since then that may not be well know, but he has been truly outstanding in all of them. You may not like the overall movies, but watching him act in films like THE ROVER and GOOD TIME will make you wonder why he isn't an Oscar winner. The same can be said for HIGH LIFE. Pattinson is out of this world, (both literally and figuratively), in this space drama. His performance is...

The Curse of La Llorona
The trailers for this film looked terrifying, and when I found out it was tangentially related to the CONJURING world ,and done by the same people, I was eagerly anticipating it. Then I saw it. Does it have a few scares and jumps and bumps? Yes. Will it terrify you to the point that you don't want to sleep alone? Not even close. The scariest thing about this movie may be the clothes, because the whole thing is set in 1973. And we all know how horrifying 70's fashion was. ...

Teen Spirit
While this isn't a bad film at all, it feels like it missed it's production window by about eight years. I know that singing competitions are still popular, but they are nothing now compared to a few years ago when they were just about the only thing people talked about when it came to TV. Elle Fanning is incredible in this role. She pulls off a foreign accent, a foreign language, and she even sings all of the songs herself. For an actor to do any one of those things is pretty good, but to nail all...

Breakthrough
About five minutes into this movie I was done. I'm sure Chrissy Metz is a wonderful person, but her acting in this movie was so bad I could barely handle to watch any more of it. Thankfully, I endured the painful start and was treated to a very good...not great....movie. Fair warming to all of you that see this movie, bring a lot of tissues. You will be ugly crying at least three times and probably more. It is a highly emotional film that is willing to take you to the breaking point. The...

Penguins
It's hard to believe, but this is the 10th DisneyNature film release. We've gone all over the globe with the team and now we get to see the incredible scenery of the Antarctic in PENGUINS. The film follows the antics of a klutzy but adorable penguin named Steve. It shows his journeys, looking for a mate, and trying to raise a couple of kids in the world's harshest environment. As with all of these movies, the cinematography is the true star. They are all beautifully shot, making the whole film a visual treat. ...

After
Don't let the cover fool you, ladies and gentlemen. Once you get past the, "oh, that looks hot and steamy," you'll come to the realization that it is nothing more than just another in a long line of movie posters and book covers with two white people almost kissing. 9 times out of 10 that means the content is going to be stupidly formulaic, poorly written, and dull. This film is all three of those things. There is zero chemistry between the lead characters, the dialogue is cringe-worthy, and the plot is...

Missing Link
I was surprised by how much I liked this movie. I went into it with an open mind like I always do, but this film gave me way more than I was expecting. It is fantastically funny from start to finish. If you are a fan of literal humor, this is a must-see movie for you. Yes, this is a movie targeted to young children, but there are so many jokes designed to keep parents interested all throughout. If you go with your kids they will be asking you why you are laughing at certain things. Good...

Hellboy
Have you ever had to endure the acting and writing of a sixth grade play? That's basically the level of competence displayed in HELLBOY. Of course, we can't blame the sixth graders for this...after all they are really young and just starting out on their paths to theatrical greatness. But we can blame the people that made this ridiculous nonsense. I'm sure almost every critic will use this line, but I have to anyway, so here it goes... Sitting through HELLBOY is pure hell. Whew, now that I've got that...

Little
This film uses magic to transform an adult woman into her former, young self, but the real magic is that, despite all of it's efforts, this may be one of the most bland films of the last decade. Aside from a few laughs there is nothing that draws out any emotion. Regina Hall's character is thoroughly unlikable for a majority of the movie, as is her younger self. (The girl who plays her, Marsai Martin, is adorable, but the character traits are horrible). And even when she finally sees the error of her ways she is still...

Shazam!
Congratulations, DC. You completely nailed it with this film. Finally. Yes, WONDER WOMAN was really good, but it had a lot of cliche moments. Yes, the first two DARK KNIGHT films are technically DC, but those are more Christopher Nolan's success than DC. Therefore, this is the first really great DC comic book film to hit the big screen. It is tremendously funny, filled with great suspense, it has wonderful character development, and it is entertaining throughout. The only issue I had with the film are a couple of pacing flaws...

Pet Sematary
When it comes to the Horror genre there is no greater name than Stephen King. That said, several of his movie adaptations have been pretty bad. Then last year we got the gift of an extraordinary film in IT. I was hoping this movie would be just as good. It isn't...but it is still a decent flick. John Lithgow does a great job of carrying the secrets of the movie with him. But the young girl, Jete Laurence, steals the show. She is sweet, charming, terrifying, and horrible. Without her acting abilities the...
