Quick Review
For a long time Melissa McCarthy seemed to be a one-trick pony, but then she starred in films like SPY, THE BOSS, and CAN YOU EVER FORGIVE ME and proved to us that she is a master of her craft. Now, with SUPERINTELLIGENCE, she shows us that she can play a smart, confident, loving person while leading a very funny rom-com.
Perhaps one of the best aspects of this film is that it is rated PG, but it doesn't lose any of its punch. I was able to watch it with my 10 year old daughter and she loved it. It isn't very often that a comedy comes along that is both funny and appropriate for most ages.
This film is not only funny, but it is smart, although it doesn't take itself too seriously. The story is ridiculous in its concept, but it plays off of that ridiculousness in a way that makes the movie feel like you know it could never happen, but you are completely okay with suspending your disbelief in order to let this story play out.
If you are looking for a great date night on the couch, or if you are wanting to watch something other than a kids movie with your older children, this is a film that will totally satisfy everyone. It is well worth your time.
