Quick Review
I watched this film with my family a couple of weeks ago and two things immediately stuck out to me.
1. Isla Fisher is in a Disney movie?
2. Jillian Bell is in a Disney movie!?!?!?!?!?!?
Kudos to the casting director on this one.
Bell, best known for being the poster child for raunchy comedies, plays a Fairy Godmother in training who ends up in the real world and hasn't got a clue about how anything works. Fisher plays a single mom, jaded by the struggles of adulthood, and the new target of the clumsy Bell.
Not surprisingly, these acting professionals worked really well together, had great on-screen chemistry, and were both funny and likeable. What is completely surprising is that they did it in a PG-rated flick!
As for the rest of the movie, it's cute and fun, and exactly what you would expect a Disney original streaming on Disney+ to be. It's very formulaic, with slightly below average special effects and set designs, but it is a great film for the whole family.
If you want to hang out with the kids and a big bucket of popcorn on the couch this weekend, this is a film that will keep everyone laughing and happy for an evening.
