Benedict Cumberbatch is like bacon and butter, he makes everything he's in better.

I'm sure The Courier would have been a wonderful film without him because the story is so compelling and incredible, but it could end up being one of my favorite films of the year because he is in it.

Based on a true story, this otherwise unbelievable story is filled with suspense, intrigue, and fascinating characters. It is a powerful examination of how even a seemingly average person living an average life can step up and accomplish extraordinary things when duty calls.

The film starts with a bit of a slow burn, but it quickly escalates into a breath-holding, fist-clenching roller coaster ride all the way to the finish. It pulls you into the story and keeps you fully engaged. There wasn't a single moment where I found my attention wondering elsewhere.

If you haven't gone back to the theaters since the shutdown, this film would make for a great return.
