If you don't know the story behind the first soldiers into Afghanistan after the 9/11 attacks it is truly incredible. They were up against insurmountable odds, dealing with people they couldn't fully trust, and were on a timeline that was all but impossible to meet. But they are U.S. soldiers, so they did it.
This film does a good job or telling their story. Not great, but good. It helps you to feel their frustrations and concerns while fighting a battle like they had never fought before.
The downside to the movie is that we don't get a lot of character development, there is about 20 minutes of fighting that could be cut from the movie and it would still deliver the same punch, and even though it is war and things are supposed to be confusing, there were several action scenes that were too confusing.
This is a film that is well worth seeing. It is important history, albeit fictionalized. Just don't expect it to be the next great war movie.
