John Krasinski is my Hollywood hero. He took a fantastic story, added another dimension to it, and gave us another smart, terrifying, and suspenseful film. And what's even better about this movie is that he fixes the one, big complaint that most of us had about the first film. We finally get to see how the whole thing started.

If you have not seen the first movie, it is a must watch. Not only because it is so good, but because this one assumes you already know everything from the first film. If you try to watch this one without having seen the first you will be thoroughly lost and confused.

While the first film focuses almost solely on the Abbott family, the second one expands their world and introduces us to several new characters. The sequel hones in on the nature of man and how, when a catastrophe upends everything, some people turn to good while others turn to bad.

Emily Blunt and Millicent Simmonds are fantastic once again. They have an incredible ability to make you feel the suspense they are experiencing. The rest of the cast does good enough to keep you in the story the whole time.

One impressive aspect of this film is how Krasinski created three parallel story lines that move along simultaneously. If you pay attention you will see the similarities as the movie cuts from one scene to the next. It is a powerful storytelling technique that Krasinski uses to perfection.

If you've already seen the first film, get to a theater immediately and see this sequel. If you haven't seen the first one, stop everything, watch it right now, and then get to the theater for the second one. You will not be disappointed.
