Clint Says: Save some money and see a matinee

About five minutes into this movie I was done. I'm sure Chrissy Metz is a wonderful person, but her acting in this movie was so bad I could barely handle to watch any more of it. Thankfully, I endured the painful start and was treated to a very good...not great....movie.

Fair warming to all of you that see this movie, bring a lot of tissues. You will be ugly crying at least three times and probably more. It is a highly emotional film that is willing to take you to the breaking point.

The story is told well, and the pacing is fine, but the only issue with the film is Metz. I was shocked at how bad her acting was. I've never seen THIS IS US, but I assumed she would be great since the show is such a hit. On the contrary, her acting would have been laughably bad had the subject matter of the film been less serious. That said, it's almost laughably bad anyway.

The rest of the cast does a fine job, and the emotional story is powerful and moving. This isn't a great film, but for a low budget movie they did a very fine job.

If you are ready to ugly cry, you may want to give this film a chance.
