Clint Says: Wait for the digital release

There is no doubt that Amandla Stenberg has become one of the best young actors in Hollywood today. Unfortunately, this movie leaves a her in a position to have to carry the whole thing. She does a great job, but there is only so much she could do to save a mediocre script and story.

The whole thing feels like a poor man's version of DIVERGENT. The kids are separated by talent, it's distopian, a girl and a small group of friends buck the system and try to start a revolution. Sound familiar?

This is a movie that could have easily been so much better if they had pushed on the story to find the flimsy points and plot holes. Many of them could be fixed with minimal effort, but that didn't happen so we end up with a sub-par film.

This movie is not worth your theater dollars. Wait until it hits Netflix or some other streaming service. At least then you'll feel like you didn't spend too much to see it.
