When I saw the trailer for THE FOREST I was cautiously optimistic that we were going to get a horror film with a unique and intriguing plot. The concept is fascinating and the trailer was captivating.
Then I saw the movie.
Unfortunately, it is just another typical horror flick with the bad spirits chasing down the pretty girl in the dark woods. It could have been so much more and so much better. Instead, they took the cheap gimmicks and cliche chills and just blended them up and poured out the same old horror flick that we see about every other month.
I will say that Natalie Dormer and Taylor Kinney are great in their roles. The acting is way above average than your typical scary movie. Unfortunately, the plot gave them little with which to work.
If you need a couple of jumps this weekend, or you are looking to snuggle up with a sheepish date, this film will give you what you need. Just don't expect to feel anything near creeped out.
