Dev Patel is a rock star. He is one of the best actors in Hollywood today, and he makes every film he is in better. Thankfully, he was in this movie, because it could have been pretty bad without him.

If you know the tale of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, go ahead a toss about 70% of that story out of your head. This film takes the story in a direction that is much less honorable than the original poem. There are several moments where Gawain isn't worthy of his knighthood.

The film itself is really long and slow. It feels like they could have easily cut 30 minutes out of it and it would have only made the movie better. There is a lot of time spent on artistic imagery. That is fine for the beauty of the visuals, but the story suffers because of it.

If you are the kind of person that enjoys artistic imagery with  ethereal plots then you will enjoy this movie. If you need your movies to move from point A to point B in a timely fashion and with purpose, this may be a film you will want to skip.
