What do you get when you put two great actors together, but the script you give them doesn't allow them to have their own personalities and they have no chemistry? You get a 90 minute movie that feels like it is three hours long.
I am a huge fan of Ed Helms, and the work he does with the script he was given is as good as anyone could possibly hope it to be. Unfortunately, the script is so flat and off-puttingly awkward that his talents are wasted.
The film does have a few moments of heart and a couple of funny lines, but it is by no means a movie that will make you feel strong emotions, or laugh out loud and miss the next line of dialogue. At its best it is a pleasant story. At its worst it is a boring slog.
There is no reason to spend the money or the time to see this in theaters. Wait for the digital release. At least then you can turn it off if you don't like it, and if you do it will be a pleasant surprise.
