It is quite amazing that after 22 years and six films the Mission Impossible franchise is still going strong, and the movies are getting better all the time. This is another edge-of-your seat. nail biting, action flick that will have you holding your breath and squirming in your seat trying to avoid the things flying at you.

The cast is incredible with several past characters making dramatic returns as well as a strong role for Henry Cavill. They all bring a dynamic to the film that could not be achieved by lesser actors.

There are only two things that I didn't like about this film. First, the twist was way to easy to figure out. I had it nailed in the first few minutes of the movie, then it was just a matter of waiting around for the film to catch up with what I already knew. I'm sure you'll figure it out early as well. Second, the movie is way too long. It is just shy of 2 1/2 hours. At that length, the truly impossible mission is trying to watch the whole movie without going to the bathroom.

Aside from those minor annoyances, this is a fun, fast-paced, action-packed film that is a great popcorn flick from beginning to end. It has all of the old tricks and gimmicks that made the original TV show fun to watch, but it also keeps itself current with all of the high tech gadgets.

If you are looking for a good action flick, this may be the best one of the Summer.

Rated: R

Release Date: September 29, 2017

Director: Doug Liman

Stars: Tom Cruise, Domhnall Gleeson, Sarah Wright

Plot: The story of a CIA pilot running guns for the Contras in the 1980's and the mayhem that surrounded him

Clint Says: Wait until after opening weekend, but see this in theaters

Imagine if Maverick from TOP GUN left the military, joined the CIA and made millions smuggling drugs and guns for the US government. Well, you don't have to imagine can watch Tom Cruise play it out in AMERICAN MADE. (Not the Top Gun part, but hey, it's Tom Cruise flying a plane...I had to go there).

If the real story is even half as true as this movie, Barry Seal was an insane genius.

From the very beginning of this movie it makes you strap in and hold on for dear life for nearly two hours. There are a couple of moments where you'll be wishing that an oxygen mask would drop out of the ceiling just so you can catch your breath.

Tom Cruise is at his Tom-Cruiseiest in this flick. From the slow swagger walk to the innocent half-smile there isn't a moment where he doesn't dominate the screen.

The film is funny, exciting, crazy, and fascinating. It isn't one that is going to get the attention of the awards voters, but for those of us that love going to the movies for fun entertainment, this is a near perfect film.

Rated: PG-13

Release Date: June 9, 2017

Director: Alex Kurtzman

Stars: Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis, Russell Crowe

Plot: An evil Egyptian princess tries to take over the world after her tomb is uncovered

Clint Says: Wait for the DVD

THE MUMMY has all of the makings of a summer blockbuster. Huge budget, the biggest Hollywood action stars, beautiful women, lots of things that blow up, and CGI zombies. The one thing it lacks? It's just not a very good movie.

I'll use some "M" words in honor of the title to describe some of the thoughts that went through my head while watching this film: Mediocre, meh, moderately tolerable, and #MyWatchMustBeBroken.

Don't get me wrong, this film is great summer fare. If you are looking to see an entertaining, action-packed, we've-got-to-save-the-world flick with very little in the way of substance this movie will be just fine.

It's a lot of fun, it has some great suspense, and Tom Cruise plays a character that has some wonderfully awful flaws that I would never have thought he would allow in one of his characters. However, the film never really takes off in the way that it should. (I can't explain this in any further detail without spoiling parts of the movie).

If you like big, summer action flicks like TRANSFORMERS and such, you will get a kick out of this one. For those of you that need more out of a movie than explosions and zombies, go see WONDER WOMAN again.

Rated: PG-13

Release Date: October 21, 2016

Director: Edward Zwick

Stars: Tom Cruise, Cobie Smulders, Danika Yarosh, Aldis Hodge

Plot: Jack Reacher tries to help an Army Major falsely accused of espionage

Clint Says: Save some money and see a matinee

This isn't a bad movie, it's just another action flick that goes through the motions and cliches until it gets to the end. If you are looking for decent action and a semi-interesting mystery this film will satisfy.

The movie does have several moments of convenience and plot holes that will drive a lot of people crazy, but if you can manage to check your brain at the door and just go along for the ride you'll enjoy this film.

There isn't anything in this movie that we haven't seen before, in fact most of it is old hat. We even get the tried and true Tom Cruise slow turn towards the camera, and the pensive Cruise letting the shower water wash away the bad thoughts.

Like the first REACHER film, you'll be somewhat entertained, but it isn't a film that will move or inspire you. By the time it comes out on DVD you'll probably have a tough time remembering what it was all about.

Director: Christopher McQuarrie

Stars: Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg

Plot: The IMF team must figure out a way to destroy The Syndicate, a group that wants to destroy IMF.

Clint Says: Wait until after opening weekend, but see this in theaters

It is impressive and fun to see this franchise continue to give us great popcorn flicks. It's also impressive to see the incredible stunt work Tom Cruise is still doing.

This movie has everything you want in a summer action flick. It's got a decent plot, high intrigue, interesting twists, edge-of-your-seat suspense, explosions, car chases and fighting. The effects are well done and the acting is above average as compared to your typical action movie.

The only downside is that this movie feels long and then is wraps up super quick. It doesn't feel like the pacing is off until the last 20 minutes of the movie, but by then you're completely engaged in the story so it won't affect your viewing enjoyment too much.

If you are looking for a good, fun action flick this weekend. MI5 is a great choice.
